[origin: WO2018086738A1] The invention relates to a device (1) and a method for classifying value documents, and to a value document processing system having such a device. At least two sensor devices (2, 3) are configured to detect waves, in particular electromagnetic waves, reflected from a front and a back of a value document, and to generate corresponding sensor data (8) or to detect properties of the value document in at least two different regions of the value document by means of different measuring principles and to generate corresponding sensor data (8). At least one evaluation device (4, 5) is configured to classify the value document based on the sensor data (8) generated by the at least two sensor devices (2, 3), this data being in particular raw data that relate to the waves reflected from the front and back of the value document or to the properties of the value document detected in the at least two different regions of the value document by means of different measuring principles.
