The device (1) comprises a casting machine (2), a furnace (10) through which a metal strip (12) can be transported in a conveying direction (FR), a first external cutting apparatus (3) and a second external cutting apparatus (4), the first external cutting apparatus (3) being upstream of the furnace (10) and the second external cutting apparatus (4) being downstream of the furnace (10), in the conveying direction (FR) of the metal strip (12), and at least one rolling mill (5, 6). A first internal cutting apparatus (14) and a second internal cutting apparatus (16) are provided inside the furnace (10). A segment (18) of the metal strip (12) between said internal cutting apparatuses (14, 16) can be separated by actuating the latter.
