In a cross belt (18) for the sliver forming unit (16) of the carding machine (1), the cross belt (18) is a continuous belt having alength (A) and a width (B) and having an inner surface (19) for guiding use on a pulley (21) and an outer surface (20) used for pressing a cotton screen. The outer surface (20) is provided with at least two boundary members (22) symmetrically arranged on the cross belt (18) with a gap therebetween and extending in the total length (A) of the cross belt (18), with the gap being 30 mm to 50 mm. Accordingly, the cross belt (18) has the width (B) of 80 mm to 110 mm.
