The sliver forming unit (16) has two transverse belts (20) for integrating a fiber web, at least one guide funnel (24) and a pair of pressing rollers (26); the transverse belts (20) having opposite directions of movement and being arranged at a distance (C) at a deflection point in order to allow integrated fiber web strips (18) to pass relative to each other; fiber web strip guiding devices (27, 28) for guiding the fiber web strips (18) to the guide funnel (24) are arranged between the transverse belts (20), wherein the guiding of the fiber web strips (18) to the guide funnel (24) is provided at a right angle to the direction of movement of the transverse belts (20) and at a right angle to the direction of movement (23) of the fiber web (17) by the fiber web strip guiding devices (27, 28).
