[origin: CA3094854A1] Described is a retaining device (30) for a chin rest (28) for a stringed instrument (1), via which device a support plate (29) for supporting the chin of the player of the stringed instrument (1) can be connected to the body (2) of the stringed instrument (1). The aim of the invention is to allow the posture of the player to be ergonomically improved and to improve the sound of the stringed instrument. To achieve this, the retaining device (30) according to the invention is designed as a spring element which resiliently connects the support plate (29) to the body (2).
