[origin: WO2018099825A1] The invention relates to a block casting machine (10) and to a method for producing a cast product (11) from liquid metal. The liquid metal is poured into a moving casting mould (18) which is formed between cooling blocks (16) mounted on carrier elements (14) which are moved in a transport direction (T) along two opposed continuous guide tracks (U), an upper block assembly (14.1) and a lower block assembly (14.2) being formed with the carrier elements (14) which are moved along the guide tracks (U). The upper block assembly (14.1) and the lower block assembly (14.2) can each be driven by at least two drives at different speeds, such that the cooling blocks (16) in the straight sections (15.1-15.4) of the block assemblies (14.1, 14.2) are pressed against each other to form a block.
