The device is provided with a plurality of contacting and clamping elements (11, 12, 13) which are designed to cooperate with one another so as to clamp the sheet metal (1) for a shaping process by mechanically contacting the sheet metal (1) and by means of holding, orienting, and/or positioning processes, a plurality of actuators (21, 22, 23) which are designed to orient and/or position the plurality of contacting and clamping elements (11, 12, 13), and a controller (10) for the actuators (21, 22, 23), said controller being designed to control the plurality of actuators (21, 22, 23) for adjusting the orientation and/or position of the contacting and clamping elements (11, 12, 13).
