[origin: WO2018127638A2] The invention relates to a method for cleaning a solid urea deposit from an exhaust system (1) of a vehicle internal combustion engine (2), said exhaust system (1) being provided with a particulate filter (52) and a selective catalytic reduction system (5) comprising an injector (6) for injecting a urea-based decontamination liquid and a catalyst (51). The method is characterised in that, in order to remove solid urea deposits that can appear in the exhaust system (1), the method comprises a step of activating a phase in which the exhaust system (1) is cleaned by increasing the temperature in the system (1) caused by a phase comprising the partial regeneration of the particulate filter, said cleaning phase being activated before the soot mass in the particulate filter (52) has reached a threshold for the activation of the total regeneration of the particulate filter (52).
