Abstract (en)

[origin: JP2019198073A] To provide a method for operating a hearing aid for improving emphasis of acoustic signals from a prescribed direction.SOLUTION: A hearing aid 2 comprises: a microphone 7 that generates an input signal E from acoustic signals from the environment; and a signal processor 4. The signal processor comprises an automatic gain controller 10 to modify the input signal E to generate an output signal A. The automatic gain controller has a compressor 12 that can be operated according to a compression standard. The environment is divided into a plurality of directions of which one is selected by a direction determination unit 14 as a relevant direction R. The input signal E is modified in a direction-dependent manner by the compressor 12 being operated according to the compression standard. The compression standard is set dependent on the relevant direction R. Thereby, acoustic signals from the relevant direction R are emphasized compared to acoustic signals from other directions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
