The invention relates to a system for cleaning a handrail comprising a mobile cart (500), a stanchion (560) extending from the mobile cart (500) and a cleaning pad carriage configured to removably attach to the stanchion (560), the cleaning pad carriage including a mounting bracket (566) and a pad to clean the handrail, the pad configured to removably mount to the mounting bracket (566). The invention further relates to a system for cleaning a handrail comprising a base support structure, a stanchion (560) disposed on a forward portion of the base support structure, and at least one pad to clean the handrail, the at least one pad supported vertically at a position above the base support structure along the stanchion (560).
