Fall arrest and people retrieving device (1) comprising:- a self-supporting base structure (2) and comprising a base body (3) and a first (4) and a second arm (5) fixed to the base body (3),- an upright (6) fixed to the base body (3) and- a support arm (7) fixed to the upright (6),wherein the first arm (4) is hinged to the base body (3) so that the base structure (2) can alternatively assume a first configuration in which the first arm (4) is close to the second arm (5) and a second configuration in which the first arm (4) is rotated away from the second arm (5) with respect to the first configuration.
