[origin: WO2018145693A1] The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock, the basic construction of which is equipped with a locking mechanism and a control element (2) that can be moved back and forth between at least two functional positions. The control element is a child-proof lock element (2) or an emergency locking element for example. The control element (2) is equipped with at least one spring (9) which is made of a different material for assuming the two functional positions in a reversible manner in each case. According to the invention, the spring (9) is mostly U-shaped with two limbs (9a, 9b). One limb (9a) is designed as a contoured limb (9a) and interacts with a stationary contour (11) for assuming the two functional positions. Conversely, the other limb (9b) is used as a fixing limb (9b) for securing the spring (9) to the control element (2).
