Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2559891A] A luminaire assembly comprises a light emitting portion 11 and a power/control portion 12. A pluggable connecting cable 42 forms an electrical/data connection between the portions, such that the power/control portion and the light emitting portion can be completely separated from each other in a disassembled configuration and attached together in an assembled configuration. The light emitting portion comprises a first housing having a substantially tubular body (121, fig 6a) that accommodates a lamp. A separate fixing ring assembly (128, fig 6b) is attachable to the housing to form a flange at or near the front of the housing and comprises a tubular body that fits inside a collar of the housing, held in engagement with the collar by a twist and lock mechanism that engages with deformations on the inside of the collar. The luminaire assembly may be a downlight assembly. A method of installing a luminaire in a surface is also claimed.
