[origin: WO2018149644A1] The invention relates to a muzzle brake for braking the barrel during the recoil of a barreled weapon, comprising a hollow cylinder, a control rod (2) which is arranged in the cylinder, and a piston rod (3) which surrounds the control rod. The piston rod can be moved coaxially to the cylinder and the control rod, and the interior of the cylinder is filled with a braking fluid (11). In the course of the braking path, the control rod first has a constant diameter which is as large as the munition requires in order to exit the barrel of the barreled weapon. A control profiled section is then provided in which the control rod can have a different diameter.
