[origin: WO2018188811A1] The present invention relates to a device for detecting road surface water, such that speed limits in force on a road can be adapted automatically to driving conditions and information can be transmitted to a receiver. The device of the invention is based on the use of a light ray transformed by means of refraction and absorption effects, for the detection of road surface water, whereby the passage of vehicles serves as an indicator of the condition of the road, given that the wheels will cause water to be splashed or sprayed in their wake when the road is wet and, owing to the effect of refraction or absorption, the splashes will cause a change in the quality of a light ray as it passes therethrough before reaching a receiver. The receiver can display the information on a dashboard of a vehicle or on variable message traffic signs, and can transmit said information to one or more automatic radars.
