Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2561586A] A respiratory mask filter cartridge through which the airway can be closed for a negative pressure fit-test by squeezing one end of the cartridge. The filter cartridge has first 12 and second 10 frame members pivotally connected together at the other end of the cartridge. A connecting port 16 on the first frame member defines a preferably circular breathing aperture through which air can pass to a mask. A double-sided gasket seal (30, figure 2) has a first seal portion 24 which can seal between the frame members, and a second seal portion 26 on the connecting port to form a seal between the filter cartridge and the mask. The seal portions are formed integrally with each other by means of a single over-moulding process. When the frame members are pinched together the airway is blocked. The second frame member may be an elongate lever with a cover 20 which blocks the breathing aperture. The seal members may be connected by an integral joining strip which extends through a channel 19 in the first frame member, and made from a thermoplastic elastomer rubber resin.
