Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2561987A] A plumbing valve comprises a body portion 200 and an insert (i.e. valve member). The body portion has an inlet at one end 204 and an outlet at the other end 206 in fluid communication via a channel 208. The insert comprises a sealing member 230 and an actuation member 232 on opposite ends of a shaft 235, the shaft passing through the channel. When the valve is in a first (i.e. closed) position, the sealing member is adjacent the inlet end of the channel, blocking the channel and preventing flow. When the valve is moved to a second (i.e. open) position by a force acting on actuation member, the sealing member is spaced back from the inlet end of the channel to allow flow. The valve may have a compression spring 236 to bias the valve in the closed position. A plumbing arrangement such as a tap, radiator or shower, is also claimed and comprises first and second fittings in which the inlet and outlet ends of the valve are respectively positioned. The first and a second fittings hold the valve open when the two fittings are connected to one another.
