[origin: WO2018197205A1] The present invention relates to a light system (100) having a light unit (200) and a light support rail (700), to which the light unit (200) is attached. The light system (100) further has a unit (500, 503) for transferring data and/or light to the light unit(s). This unit can be a communications unit (500) for connecting the light system (100) to a communications network for receiving data from the communications network and for coupling an optical signal, which is based on the data received from the communications network, into the light support rail (700). Alternatively or in addition, this unit can be a coupling-in unit (503) for coupling light into the light support rail (700). The light system (100) also has a coupling-out element (400) for transferring at least some of the data received from the optical signal or for transferring at least some of the coupled-in light to the light unit (200).
