Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2562093A] A handle assembly comprising a first rotatable handle grip 14 which is moveable axially relative to a handle axis, in a latch operating configuration rotation of the handle grip drives a latch between latched and unlatched positions, and a non-latch-operating configuration in which the handle assembly is non-operable for driving the latch wherein the handle assembly is transformed between the two configurations by moving the handle grip axially along the handle axis (e.g. by pulling the handle out or pushing the handle in). Preferably there is a blocking mechanism which prevents the handle from rotating in the non-latch operating configuration comprising a blocking protrusion 30 which engages with a stop member 40 to prevent the handle grip from moving. When the handle grip is pushed inwards against the biasing force of a biasing member (e.g. plate spring) this disengages the protrusion from the stop member allowing the handle grip to rotate. The handle assembly is intended to be used on doors or windows which can be left unlocked but easy unlatching is undesirable e.g. by children.
