[origin: EP3621045A1] An alarm system (10) stores registration information for a user device (32). A motion detection signal which indicates detection of motion within a region (12) monitored by the alarm system (10) is received by the alarm system (10). A notification (38) is transmitted to the registered user device (32) upon the motion detection signal being received by the alarm system (10). The notification causes the registered user device (32) to play a sound. The generation of an alarm is disabled if the sound played by the registered user device (32) is detected by the alarm system (10).
