[origin: WO2018215342A1] Door component (100) and method having a controllable rotary damper (1) and two connector units (151, 152) which can be moved relative to one another, wherein one of the two connector units (151, 152) can be connected to a load-bearing construction and the other of the two connector units (151, 152) can be connected to a movable door device (154) of a vehicle (100), in order to damp a movement of the door device (154) between a closed position (102) and an open position (103) in a controlled manner at least partially. Two spindle units (4, 5) which are in engagement with one another are arranged between the two connector units (151), one spindle unit being configured as a threaded spindle (4) and the other spindle unit being configured as a spindle nut (5). A first spindle unit (4) is fastened rotatably on a coupling rod (3) which is connected to one of the connector units (151, 152). A magnetorheological transmission device (40) is arranged between the coupling rod (3) and the first spindle unit (4), in order to brake a rotational movement of the first spindle unit (4) as required.
