Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2018215334A1] A method for wideband generation of IQ signals involves a reference signal initially having its frequency doubled and subsequently being supplied to a master-slave D-type flip-flop (DIV2) in order to obtain an I component and a Q component of the reference signal. In one configuration, the D-type flip-flop (DIV2) is operated without a feedback path and instead the reference signal is supplied to the data input (D) of the D-type flip-flop (DIV2) with a phase shift that compensates for a phase shift caused by the frequency doubling. In this manner, a phase uncertainty between the individual channels in multichannel systems is avoided. In another configuration, the reference signal is split upstream of the circuit for IQ signal generation and firstly provided to the frequency doubler (X2) and secondly, after phase shifting, provided to one or two mixers (MixI, MixQ), which each down-convert the reference signal with either the I signal or the Q signal generated downstream of the master-slave flip-flop (DIV2) and thus each generate a DC signal indicating whether the I and Q signals have the phase uncertainty 0° or 180°. This information is then used to compensate for the phase uncertainty in the I and Q signals.
