Abstract (en)

[origin: CA3063808A1] The invention relates to a cutting device (20) comprising at least one firing pin retainer (1), at least one locking element (2), a spring (6), a firing pin (7), a percussion cap (9), a charge (13), a cutting element (14), a stop (15) and a shear pin (17), wherein the at least one locking element (2) provides a connection between the firing pin retainer (1) and the firing pin (7). The spring (6) is compressed. After the firing pin retainer (1) has travelled a predetermined path, the locking element (2) is released. The release results in the spring (6) being released, causing the firing pin (7) to be accelerated and at the end to strike the percussion cap (9). As a result of the firing pin (7) striking the percussion cap (9), the pyrotechnic charge therein is ignited. As a result of the pyrotechnic charge in the percussion cap being initiated, the delay element (11), if provided, is lit. This delay element regulates the delay time. Afterwards, an additional charge (13) is ignited. The gas volume thus generated applies pressure to the cutting element (14). Above a certain pressure the shear pin (17) shears off, causing the cutting element (14) to be axially accelerated. The cutting element (14) strikes the stop (15) at high speed as a result of the acceleration, and penetrates into same. A connection to be cut, which is guided through an opening in front of the stop (15), is thereby severed.
