Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a method for generating a 3D model (30) with a mobile device (20). The mobile device (20) is equipped with a camera (21). The 3D model (30) is suited to be used as template for 3D printing of an object. The specimen (10) of the object to be printed is available. The method comprises the following steps:- taking images of the specimen (10) from various perspectives by means of the camera (21), wherein the position and orientation of the camera (21) is tracked by means of the hardware and software of the mobile device (20),- generating a depth map of the specimen (10) relative to the camera (21) for each image by means of the software of the mobile device (20),- creating a signed distance field of the specimen (10) for each depth map, and- fusing the signed distance fields in order to create the 3D model (30) of the object, wherein the signed distance fields are created and fused by means of the software of the mobile device (20).
