[origin: WO2019008161A1] A face mask comprises a face seal, wherein the seal comprises an envelope defining a lumen containing a foam core, wherein the inner surface of the envelope is attached to the foam core, and wherein the seal comprises one or more valves that control the passage of air to and from the core of the seal. The seal is mounted on a frame, housing filter material and at least one exhalation valve. Only the seal is in contact with the face of the user. The exhalation valves have a high flow capacity and provide an effective means for venting exhaled air from the mask.
