Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung galvanisch beschichteter Bauteile. Im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren wird eine Randschicht eines zu beschichtenden Bauteils einer mechanischen Behandlung unterzogen, bei welcher die Randschicht zumindest abschnittsweise verformt wird, wobei dadurch die Struktur der Randschicht zumindest abschnittsweise modifiziert wird und in den modifizierten Abschnitten der Randschicht Wasserstofffallen erzeugt werden.
