Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2564681A] A rotary pump comprising a housing 1 defining an annular chamber with inlet and outlet ports (12, 11, Fig. 1), a flexible annular diaphragm 3 forming one side of the chamber spaced opposite an annular wall on the housing 1, a partition extending between inlet and outlet ports, to the diaphragm 3 which is configured to be pressed against the opposite wall of the housing 1 by a rotating means to force fluid drawn in at the inlet port (12, Fig. 1) around the chamber and to expel it at the outlet port (11, Fig. 1); the rotary pump comprises a reinforcement ring 4 surrounding the rotating means and connected to a central region of the diaphragm 3, the reinforcement ring 4 comprises a crenulated portion (30, Fig. 4) with a plurality of radial projections embedded in the central region of the diaphragm 3 for securing the reinforcement ring 4 to the central region of the diaphragm 3.
