A removal device (11) having removal elements (13) is associated with the form roller (09), by means of which the coating means (06, 06') previously applied continuously to the shell surface (08) over the application width via the feed device (18) can be removed from the shell surface (08) before the downstream delivery to the print stock (02), that is, in one or in a plurality of partial width sections, relative to the application width, synchronized to the machine and/or print stock phase position for defined and/or definable phase lengths (I).
