[origin: WO2019037883A1] An electrically operable aerosol-generating system comprises a charging device (201) comprising a primary power source (203), and an elongated aerosol-generating device (220) comprising a secondary power source (226). The aerosol-generating device has a proximal end (223), a distal end (224), and a body (225) extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The charging device has a docking arrangement configured to engage with the aerosol-generating device, the docking arrangement comprising a docking space (205) defined between a first end (206), and an opposing second end (207) spaced from and fixed relative to the first end. Electrical contacts (227, 228) are located on at least one of the proximal or distal end of the aerosol-generating device for engagement with corresponding electrical contacts (217, 218) located on at least one of the first end and the second end of the docking arrangement. The docking space accommodates a longitudinal dimension of the elongated aerosol-generating device between the first end and the second end. The aerosol-generating device can be engaged with the docking arrangement by means of a transverse movement.
