[origin: WO2019043427A1] The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a poorly water soluble active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) (such as the iron chelator deferasirox) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and at least two pharmaceutically acceptable excipients. The present invention further relates to a method for the preparation thereof and an use thereof for treatment and/or methods of treatment administering the pharmaceutical composition, wherein the treatment is for treating iron overload in transfusion dependent anemias (transfusion hemosiderosis), in particular thalassemia major, thalassemia intermediate, and in sickle cell disease, to reduce iron-related morbidity and mortality, in patients 2 years and older.
