[origin: WO2019052752A1] The invention relates to a method for moving at least part of a manually operable operating mechanism (110) for operating a function of a vehicle. The operating device (110) comprises an operating element (115) and a covering element (120) for covering the operating element (115). The method comprises at least one reading-in step and one outputting step. In the reading-in step, a drive mode state signal (125) is read in, which represents an adjusted drive mode state of the vehicle in a drive mode of the vehicle. In the ouputting step, a movement signal (130) is emitted, which is designed to generate a movement of the operating element (115) or the covering element (120) according to the read-in drive mode state signal (125).
