Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2020156875A1] The invention relates to a knitting machine needle (1), which comprises at least the following features: a hook (2) for forming stitches, which hook delimits the shaft (3) in the longitudinal direction (z) of the shaft (3) and which hook tapers into a hook tip (4), and a first drive portion (33) following the hook (2) in the longitudinal direction (z) of the shaft (3). The knitting machine needle (1) is characterized by a predetermined breakage portion (9) for separating the hook (2) from the first drive portion (33). The predetermined breakage portion (9) is formed by a portion of the shaft (3), which portion extends in the longitudinal direction (z). The predetermined breakage portion (9) is located wholly in a first shaft portion (10), which extends in the longitudinal direction (z) of the shaft (3) between the tip (4) of the hook (2) and the first drive portion (33). The invention further relates to a knitting system (15), which has at least one knitting machine needle (1) having a predetermined breakage portion (9).
