[origin: WO2019102022A1] The present invention relates to a composition for coloring food, comprising phosphate particles and calcium carbonate particles, the phosphate being a phosphate approved as a food additive and preferably being tricalcium phosphate. In a preferred composition, the mass ratio of phosphate to calcium carbonate is 99.5 - 0.5 to 75 - 25. Preferably, 90% of the particles of the mixture obtained have a particle size of 50 µm or less. Another subject matter of the present invention is a food item, animal food, cosmetic or drug comprising the composition according to the invention. The food items can be, inter alia, caramel candy, jelly candy, salad dressings, sauces, beverages or coatings for confectionery, baked goods and ice cream.
