[origin: WO2019076809A1] The invention relates to armor components which consist of at least one metal base and a coating layer which is welded thereon and which is made of an alloyed steel. The coating layer is applied by means of a welding process in an overlapping, oscillating manner in parallel paths. The components are characterized by a high degree of bullet resistance and a high degree of protection against fragments even with a low total thickness of 9 mm and less. The armor components can be used as protective parts or also as structural parts for vehicles such as military vehicles, passenger cars, ships, boats, airplanes, and drones.
