In order to provide a housing and a corresponding method by means of which the air quality in the direct surroundings of a housed installation can be improved and the accessibility to an installation within the housing, in particular having a sterile or clean room atmosphere, is improved in a simple manner in the process, and in which at the same time no significantly increased production and operating costs arise, and which have no significantly increased space requirement inside or outside the housing, there is provision that the supporting elements form, at least in certain portions, part of a gas line system for improving the air quality in the outer surroundings of the housing, and the housing further comprises at least one central gas supply line, which is connected to at least one supporting element, and at least one gas outlet which is arranged on a supporting element and which is directed to the outside of the housing.
