Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2019076723A1] The invention relates to a method for coding and identifying a plate-type workpiece (1), said method comprising the following steps: coding the workpiece (1), a code being produced in the form of a local modification in the material structure of the base material of the workpiece (1), within a coding region (8, 8'); reading out the code by measuring the local distribution of the electrical conductivity and/or the permeability of the base material of the workpiece (1) by means of an eddy-current sensor (4), in a reading region comprising the coding region (8), along a reading-out section (10), and determining a signal calibrated to the distance of the eddy-current sensor (4) from the surface of the reading region (11); storing the read-out code in a memory device (5); repeating the reading-out of the code by means of eddy-current measurement; and comparing the stored code and the repeated read-out code.
