[origin: WO2018149725A1] The invention relates to a method for painting a workpiece (24), wherein an application device (26a, 26b) having an atomizer (32a, 32b) directs a spray jet (34) onto the workpiece (24), the spray jet geometry of which is modifiable by the application device. A camera (36; 36a and 36b) captures an image (34') of the spray jet (34). An image processing device (38) detects deviations between the spray jet (34) recorded on the image (34') and a target spray jet. A control device (40) controls the application device (26a, 26b) as a factor of the deviations detected by the image processing device (38).
