[origin: GB2568041A] An air flow sensor 2 comprising: a housing 4 having an inflow aperture, outflow aperture 16, air flow pathway from the inflow aperture to the outflow aperture; a first sensing element 28 exposed to the air flow pathway; and second sensing element 30 isolated from the air flow pathway. The second element comprises a temperature sensing element 30 comprising a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) resistor, wherein the first element comprises at least one diode 28, and wherein the elements are arranged to be heated equally. A comparator may also be arranged to compare element outputs. An input air redirecting member extends from the housing to redirect air into the inflow aperture. A guiding surface may be arranged to reduce pressure at the outflow aperture. Two parallel pathways may be provided comprising a sensor and a relief pathway. An internal baffle may be situated between the inflow and outflow apertures. An internal divider may divide the sensor housing into active and isolated sections, wherein the isolated section is substantially isolated from any airflow between the inflow and outflow on a parallel path. The elements may be printed circuit board (PCB) mounted partially forming the divider. The air flow sensor may be used in a fan application.
