[origin: WO2019091920A1] The invention relates to a method for displaying an image of the area surrounding a vehicle on a touch screen installed in the vehicle, comprising the steps of: a) displaying, on the touch screen, an image of the vehicle as it would be seen from a virtual camera placed in an initial position, and at least one graphic element associated with a position parameter of the virtual camera; b) acquiring the location of a point of the element selected by the user by pressing the touch screen; c) calculating the value of the position parameter according to the location of the point, and deriving a new position for the virtual camera; d) acquiring real images of the surrounding area using image sensors; e) using the real images to build a virtual image of the area surrounding the vehicle as seen from the virtual camera placed in the new position; and f) displaying the virtual image on the touch screen.
