[origin: WO2019101525A1] The invention relates to closure device for closing containers (3) that have a filler opening (18), such as bottles or cans, comprising a positioning device (9) for arranging a container (3) to be closed in a position for closing, a flushing device (11) with a nozzle device (13) for injecting flushing gas, particularly an inert gas, through the filler opening (18) into a container (3) to be closed prior to closing, a closure element setting device (38) for fitting a closure element (30) to a container (3) to be closed in a position closing the filler opening (18) thereof and hence closing the container (3) and - a control device (24), wherein the nozzle device (13) has a central nozzle arrangement (15) and a peripheral nozzle arrangement (17) surrounding the central nozzle arrangement, wherein the nozzle device (13) and a container (3) to be closed may be positioned relative to each other in a flushing position such that the central nozzle arrangement (15) for injecting flushing gas into the container (3) is at least mainly directed to the filler opening (18) thereof and the peripheral nozzle arrangement (17) is aimed at a peripheral area of the filler opening (18) so that both the filler opening (18) and also the periphery thereof are subjected to a flushing gas flow (20, 22) when the nozzle device (13) is discharging flushing gas.
