[origin: WO2019116335A1] The protected functional pavement (100) is made up of modules (1) which are combined in longitudinal direction by coupling means (3), and arranged simply on a horizontal ground (S). Each module (1) includes a box-like pavement element (2), whose lower horizontal side (2B) is in contact with said ground (S), while the upper horizontal side (2A) defines a corresponding portion of the walking surface (10) of said protected functional pavement (100). A side parapet (4) rises from the box-like pavement element (2). The side parapet has a predetermined height, sufficient to contain the body of a person to prevent him/her from falling below. The thickness of the box-like pavement element (2) defines a through longitudinal channelling (12), in which electrical cables and/or fluid carrying pipes can be housed. The protected functional pavement (100) has various applications, including in particular, the one next to the roadbeds (M) on which the tracks of the railway lines are located.
