[origin: WO2019121837A1] The invention relates to a control method of an impact screwdriver for tightening a screw connection, which executes a sequence of consecutive phases in response to an actuation of a button. In a first phase, an impact mechanism of the impact screwdriver repeatedly exerts rotary impacts on the screw connection, wherein the first phase is finished when the estimated transmitted torque exceeds a threshold value that is predefined for the screw connection. In a second phase, a number of rotary impacts that is predefined for the screw connection is exerted on the screw connection. An estimation routine estimates a course of a rotation angle Φ over time. A model is adapted to the course and the predefined number is established based on the adapted model.
