[origin: WO2019135115A1] The invention proceeds from a hob apparatus (10a-b), in particular an induction hob apparatus, having a large number of heating units (12a-b) which define at least one variable cooking area region (14a-b) which has at least one fixedly defined first cooking area subregion (16a-b) and at least one fixedly defined second cooking area subregion (18a-b). In order to provide an apparatus of this generic type with improved properties in respect of heating cookware (60a-b), the invention proposes that the hob apparatus (10a-b) has at least one control unit (38a-b) which, in at least one operating state in which in each case at least one part of an item of cookware (60a-b) is placed in the cooking area subregions (16a-b, 18a-b), at least substantially holds constant a total output power of first heating units (12a1-b1) from amongst the heating units (12a-b) which define the first cooking area subregion (16a-b) and a total output power of second heating units (12a2-b2) from amongst the heating units (12a-b) which define the second cooking area subregion (18a-b) at any time.
