Adapter device that can be installed on a vehicle, in particular an ambulance, said vehicle comprising a loading surface on which a lower loading interface is provided for movably connecting a given type of patient and medical device transport means, wherein the adapter device is configured to be fixed on the loading surface in a position overlying the lower loading interface and comprises a supporting body defining upper engagement means for movably connecting a type of patient and medical device transport means different from that directly connectable to the lower loading interface.
