Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Verdichtungsvorrichtung (1) für eine Spinnmaschine, insbesondere Ringspinnmaschine, zum Bündeln eines verstreckten Faserbandes (23), mit einer Verdichtungseinheit (3), die eine in einem Grundkörper (2) angeordnete Saugluftzuführung (5) und eine von der Saugluftzuführung (5) gespeiste Saugöffnung aufweist, über der ein Verdichtungsriemchen (8a, 8b) austauschbar angeordnet ist.Erfindungsgemäß umfasst die Verdichtungseinheit (3) eine Blende (6) mit einer Blendenöffnung (7) zur Abdeckung der Saugluftzuführung (5). Der Grundkörper (2) ist zur lösbaren Aufnahme der die Saugluftzuführung (5) abdeckenden Blende (6) ausgebildet. Mit Hilfe der Blende (6) ist die Saugöffnung für den Betrieb der Verdichtungseinheit (3) veränderbar. Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein Streckwerk und ein Verfahren zum Betreiben der Verdichtungsvorrichtung (1).
