[origin: WO2019154566A1] The invention relates to a cover material for covering an airbag unit, said cover material comprising a textile backing material (1) made from threads and a coating (2) which is applied to the textile carrier material (1) on the visible side and is based on thermoplastics, wherein the textile backing material (1) has linear regions (100) in a longitudinal direction (L) and/or in the transverse direction (Q) orthogonal thereto, said regions having a lower strength than in the remaining regions (101) and forming lines of weakness (30) for the cover material (3), and the cover material has a maximum tensile force of 150 to 700 N and a tear propagation resistance of 3 to 45 N along the lines of weakness (30).
