[origin: WO2019182877A1] A filter assembly for installation within an aperture of an exhaust hood overlying kitchen equipment includes a filter pad and at least one insert. The filter pad comprises a material configured to absorb airborne particulates. The at least one insert is configured to support the filter pad in a generally flat configuration and the at least one insert comprises one or more perforations and one or more non-perforated portions, wherein the one or more perforated portions permit air to flow therethrough and the one or more non- perforated portions restrict the air from flowing therethrough and wherein the at least one insert is configured to cooperate with the filter pad such that the filter pad absorbs the airborne particulates in a manner that reveals a visual indicator relating to a usable life of the filter pad.
