[origin: WO2019179766A1] The invention relates to a method for centering at least one optical element (20, 20', 20") in an optical system (10) for an endoscope, to an optical element (20, 20', 20"), and to an optical system (10). According to the invention, the optical element (20) has an optical axis (22) and is oriented in the optical system (10) in such a way that the optical axis (22) of the optical element (20) coincides with an optical axis (12) of the optical system (10). The invention is further developed in that at least two recesses (24, 24', 24"), in particular grooves, are introduced into a circumference (26) of the optical element (20), wherein in a cross-sectional plane (27) of the optical element (20), each recess (24, 24', 24") comprises a deepest point (25, 25', 25"), which has a smallest distance to the optical axis (22) of the optical element (20). The deepest points (25, 25', 25") are thereby located in the cross-sectional plane (27) of the optical element (20) on a circle (28), the center (29) of which is located on the optical axis (22) of the optical element (20). Centering elements (32) are inserted into the recesses (24, 24', 24"), wherein the optical element (20) is aligned in the optical system (10) by means of the centering elements (32).
