Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2019193466A1] The present invention is enclosed in the area of thermal protection, in particular active devices for the protection of assets such as fire fighting vehicles. It is an object of the present invention an apparatus (1) for active thermal protection of an asset, such apparatus (1) comprising a flexible blanket (2), a liquid distribution system and a plurality of sprinklers (3) connected to said liquid distribution system, the blanket (2) having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises a material with radiation flux reflective properties and the plurality of sprinklers (3) being arranged adjacently to the second side sprinklers (3) and in such a way that, when sprinkling a liquid, such liquid is directly sprinkled onto the second side of the blanket (2). Such apparatus (1) provides for effective protection against radiative and convective heat, enabling that a liquid is sprinkled under the blanket (2), thereby providing for a lowering of temperature inside the blanket (2).
