Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2572649A] An adhesive roll (3, Fig. 1) for use in contact cleaning comprises at least one sheet of adhesive material (212, 214, 216, Fig. 2) removably attached to a roll core (210, Fig. 2), wherein the adhesive sheet has a first side having a discontinuous adhesive surface 211 and a second non-adhesive side. Typically, the adhesive surface comprises microspheres 238 with diameters of 20-80 microns, preferably 26 microns. The adhesive sheet may comprise a paper substrate 236 and the non-adhesive side may comprise a release coating 234 in the form of a film formed from polyethylene. An apparatus for contact cleaning comprises the adhesive roll and a contact cleaning roller (2, Fig. 1). The apparatus may be used in the manufacture of electronic components, such as photovoltaics and flat panel displays. The use of the adhesive roll in cleaning a contaminated surface 5 is also disclosed.
